Liverpool identify €50m youngster as potential Mohamed Salah replacement
Liverpool have reportedly identified AS Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche as a leading candidate to replace Mohamed Salah, according to reports from France.
The Premier League club are said to be actively exploring options for a new right-sided forward following growing indications that Salah will bring his long Anfield career to an end after this season.
Akliouche Emerges as Key Target From Ligue 1
French publication L’Équipe reports that Liverpool have added the 24-year-old Monaco winger to their shortlist, with the player valued at around €50 million (£43.4 million).
Akliouche, who progressed through Monaco’s academy before breaking into the first team in 2021, has developed into one of Ligue 1’s most promising wide attackers.
Over five seasons at Stade Louis II, he has scored 23 goals, with six of those coming in the current Ligue 1 campaign alongside six assists for a Monaco side struggling to secure European qualification.
Liverpool Also Tracking Lamine Camara
L’Équipe further reports that Liverpool are also monitoring Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, who has attracted attention across Europe for his performances this season.
The 22-year-old Senegal international has made 30 appearances this term, standing out for his defensive contribution and ability to regain possession, having recovered the ball 153 times under coach Sébastien Pocognoli.
However, Liverpool are expected to face competition from Newcastle United, who are also said to be interested in the midfielder.
Monaco Hold Strong Negotiating Position
Despite ongoing speculation, Monaco are in a strong position heading into the summer transfer window, with both Akliouche and Camara tied down on long-term contracts running until 2028 and 2029 respectively.
The Ligue 1 club will also be hoping to secure European qualification, which could further strengthen their stance in any potential negotiations.
