Liverpool face Atletico Madrid and Inter in 2026-27 Champions League league phase
Liverpool’s fixtures for the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League league phase have been confirmed, with the six-time European champions set to face Atletico Madrid, Inter and Porto among their eight opponents.
Liverpool will begin the new Champions League campaign under Spanish manager Andoni Iraola. They will play four matches at home and four away during the league phase, facing two teams from each of the four draw pots, from Pot 1 through to Pot 4.
The fixtures, listed according to the seeding pots, are:
– Atletico Madrid at home – Inter away – Porto at home – Club Brugge away – Villarreal at home – Fenerbahce away – Lens at home – LASK away
The meeting with Atletico Madrid will be one of the most notable games in Liverpool’s schedule. Liverpool have won their past three matches against the Spanish side, with the two most recent encounters both ending in 3-2 victories.
One of those wins came at Anfield in the opening round of last season’s campaign.
Liverpool’s home fixtures in the league phase will be against Atletico Madrid, Porto, Villarreal and Lens. Their away programme will take them to Inter, Club Brugge, Fenerbahce and LASK.
The exact dates and kick-off times for the league-phase matches are expected to be announced next Saturday, 29 August.
The league phase is scheduled to begin on 8 September and will conclude on 27 January 2027.
The revised Champions League format requires each club to play eight league-phase matches rather than meeting the same opponent home and away in a traditional group. Liverpool’s schedule therefore includes eight different opponents, with a balanced split between home and away fixtures.
Among the other headline ties, Liverpool will travel to face Inter in Italy and Fenerbahce in Turkey, while Porto, Atletico Madrid, Villarreal and Lens will visit Anfield. The club will also make away trips to Belgium to play Club Brugge and Austria to meet LASK.
The campaign will represent Liverpool’s return to the expanded league phase with a schedule spread across the period from September to late January. Their final fixture in the opening phase is due to be completed by 27 January 2027, when the league-phase programme ends.
