Liam Rosenior lands Ligue 1 return as Paris FC hand ex-Chelsea boss long-term project

Liam Rosenior has been appointed as the new head coach of Paris FC, with the Ligue 1 side handing him a contract until June 2028.

The 41-year-old Englishman arrives at the club following a brief and turbulent spell in charge of Chelsea FC, where his tenure ended less than four months after his appointment.

Rosenior replaces Antoine Kombouaré, who guided Paris FC to an 11th-place finish last season as the club continued its efforts to establish itself in France’s top flight.

The appointment marks Rosenior’s return to French football after previously managing RC Strasbourg Alsace between 2024 and 2026 before moving to Stamford Bridge.

Paris FC praise ‘modern’ coaching approach

Paris FC sporting director Marco Neppe revealed the club identified Rosenior as the ideal candidate to lead their next phase of development.

“Liam Rosenior brings together all the qualities we were looking for,” Neppe said.

“He is a modern, demanding coach and recognised for his ability to help both the players and the team progress. Beyond his tactical skills, we were particularly attracted by his management qualities and his ability to unite a group around a clear vision.”

The club believes Rosenior’s combination of tactical ideas and leadership skills can help accelerate their ambitions in Ligue 1.

Fresh start after difficult Chelsea spell

Rosenior’s move to Paris comes after a challenging period at Chelsea, where he was appointed in January following the departure of Enzo Maresca.

Despite receiving a long-term contract reportedly running until 2032, his time in west London lasted only a matter of months before the club decided to end their partnership.

The former defender now has the opportunity to rebuild his reputation in France and continue the work he began during his spell at Strasbourg.

Paris FC confirmed that Rosenior will officially begin his duties on Thursday as he prepares for a new chapter in his managerial career.
