LDC: ETO’O AND CHELSEA CORRECT STEAUA BUCHAREST 4 – 0

Chelsea

Chelsea responded emphatically after their home defeat against FC Basel on the first day of the Champions League group stage. The Blues corrected Steaua Bucharest in Bulgaria with a convincing 4-0 victory.

The opening goal came in the 19th minute when Ramires capitalized on a counter-attack. Schürrle’s impressive run on the left side led to a cross, Eto’o’s attempt was missed, but Ramires, who initiated the play, perfectly followed up and scored with his toe. The score was 1-0.

In the 44th minute, Georgievski scored an own goal, giving Chelsea their second goal. Eto’o created a striking opportunity after getting past Latovlevic, and although Tatarusanu saved Eto’o’s shot, it deflected off Georgievski into the net. Steaua 0 – 2 Chelsea.

Schürrle played a crucial role again in the build-up to the third goal, making an impressive run on the left side. He found Oscar, who delivered a superb pass to Ramires. The Brazilian scored his second goal with a powerful shot. Steaua 0, Chelsea 3.

Chelsea sealed the victory with a fourth goal in stoppage time, courtesy of Lampard in the 91st minute. Eto’o provided an excellent ball to William on the left wing, who then set up Lampard for a precise finish with his right foot. The match concluded with a resounding Steaua 0 – 4 Chelsea.

With this impressive win, Chelsea secured second place in the group with 3 points (superior goal difference to Basel), trailing behind Schalke 04, who leads with 6 points. Chelsea will travel to Germany for the third matchday on October 22.
