Ghanaian defender Patric Pfeiffer has completed a loan transfer to German second-tier side FC Magdeburg from side FC Augsburg.
The move was finalized on transfer deadline day and will see the 25-year-old center-back remain with Magdeburg until the end of the current football season.
Pfeiffer, who signed with Augsburg on a free transfer last season, has spent the first half of the 2024-25 campaign on loan with Swiss club BSC Young Boys.
However, following a lack of playing time with Young Boys, he has now made the switch to Magdeburg, where he will don the number 3 jersey.
Sporting director Otmar Schork expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, highlighting the need for reinforcement in central defense after the loan of Andi Hoti.
He noted, “With Patric, we are adding a player with second division experience who can contribute right away.”
Manager Christian Titz also shared his excitement, recalling their time together at Hamburger SV and praising Pfeiffer’s skills as a well-rounded central defender.
Despite changing his nationality to represent Ghana, Pfeiffer has yet to earn an international cap for the national team.
