The race for domestic titles in Europe’s major leagues is beginning to take shape, with only four clubs still unbeaten in their respective competitions.
Lazio, Roma, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are the only teams yet to lose in the leagues covered, after Barcelona’s flawless start was ended by defeat against Real Madrid in El Clasico.
Barcelona had won every league match before that loss, meaning La Liga no longer has a club with an unblemished record. The remaining unbeaten sides are now divided between Italy and Germany, with two clubs from each country.
Lazio set the pace in Italy
Lazio have emerged as the standout surprise of the 2026-27 season under manager Gennaro Gattuso.
After 10 Serie A matches, Lazio have recorded nine victories and one draw. Their 28 points leave them top of the table, three points clear of Inter, whose position was weakened by a 3-1 defeat by city rivals Milan in the Derby della Madonnina.
Lazio lead a group of challengers that also includes Inter, Roma, Como and Milan. Their strong opening has given supporters renewed optimism as the club look to maintain their position at the summit.
Roma have also made an unbeaten start under Gian Piero Gasperini. They have won seven and drawn three of their first 10 league matches, keeping them firmly involved in the title race.
That run carries added significance for Roma, who are seeking their first Serie A title since 2001.
Bayern and Dortmund unbeaten in Germany
Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have both avoided defeat after the opening eight rounds of the Bundesliga.
Each club has collected five wins and three draws, leaving them on 18 points. Bayern’s presence among the unbeaten teams is not unexpected given their domestic record, while Dortmund will hope their positive beginning can develop into a sustained challenge for the title.
With only four clubs remaining unbeaten across two of Europe’s major leagues, the next stage of the season will determine how long Lazio, Roma, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund can preserve their records.
According to Tribuna, those four teams now represent the entire unbeaten group after Real Madrid ended Barcelona’s run in Spain.
