La Liga is to file a complaint with the Disciplinary Committee after Eduardo Camavinga was hit by flagpoles while celebrating Real Madrid’s second goal against Barcelona in Sunday’s Clasico.
The incident took place in the closing minutes of the match at Camp Nou, where several supporters in a stand behind the goal attempted to strike the Real Madrid midfielder around the head.
The match was generally calm and no major incidents were reported, according to Spanish newspaper AS. However, footage shared on social media showed a number of Barcelona supporters moving towards Camavinga with flagpoles as he celebrated Real Madrid’s second goal.
Some of the supporters made contact with the player. Camavinga attempted to shield his face from the blows before his team-mates quickly intervened.
Real Madrid players urged the fans to stop what La Liga described as unacceptable behaviour and moved Camavinga away from the area in front of the supporters.
La Liga said it would take firm action after examining the available video footage. It plans to submit an official complaint to the Disciplinary Committee, which will decide the appropriate punishment for the behaviour originating from the stand behind the goal at Barcelona’s stadium.
The league said: “La Liga remains firmly committed to eliminating any acts of violence or intolerance from Spanish football.”
The report was accompanied by fixture listings for La Liga involving Barcelona, Deportivo Alaves, Racing Santander and Real Madrid.
Barcelona are listed to play Deportivo Alaves in La Liga on 31 October 2026, while Racing Santander are listed to face Real Madrid in La Liga on 01 November 2026.
