Köln eye €7m Tromsø and Gambia teenager Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh

Gambian centre-back Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh is being linked with a move from Norwegian side Tromsø IL to Bundesliga club 1.FC Köln, with the 19-year-old defender’s future increasingly under scrutiny in Germany and Norway.

Data from Transfermarkt indicates Köln are monitoring the left-footed centre-back, whose current market value is listed at €7.00m, with the likelihood of a transfer currently rated at 35%. The move remains at rumour stage, and there has been no confirmation of an agreement between the clubs.

Kinteh, who stands at 1.86m, has emerged as one of Tromsø’s most highly regarded young players in the Eliteserien, operating primarily as a central defender. Born on 30 November 2006, he is already a regular squad member for the Norwegian club, wearing shirt number 25.

There is no publicly listed contract expiry date for Kinteh at Tromsø, leaving open the possibility that the teenager could run down his deal and eventually leave as a free agent if fresh terms are not agreed. For now, however, the interest from Köln is framed around his current valuation and potential resale value.

The Gambian defender’s recent outings in Norway’s top flight have underpinned the growing interest, with his defensive positioning and use of his stronger left foot drawing attention from scouts. Tromsø continue to rely on him as they navigate the Eliteserien campaign, with the player gaining valuable minutes against domestic opponents in 2026.

Having only represented Tromsø at senior club level and carrying The Gambia as his sole listed nationality, a switch to Köln would mark a first move into one of Europe’s major leagues and a significant step up in competition.

If the transfer does materialise, the proposed switch to the Bundesliga could accelerate Kinteh’s development, elevating both his reputation and long-term potential at the heart of a top-flight European defence.
