Kimpembe joins Al Kharaitiyat as former PSG and France defender moves into Qatar second tier

Presnel Kimpembe has signed a one-year deal with Al Kharaitiyat, keeping the former Paris Saint-Germain and France defender in the Gulf region but dropping him into Qatar’s second division.

Al Kharaitiyat confirmed the arrival of the 30-year-old centre-back in an official statement, announcing that he joins for the 2025-26 campaign after leaving Qatar SC, where he made only 11 appearances.

The club said: “يعلن نادينا رسميا عن التعاقد مع المدافع الفرنسي بريسنيل كيمبيمبي لمدة موسم واحد، قادما من نادي قطر الرياضي، للموسم المقبل” – “Our club officially announces the signing of French defender Presnel Kimpembe on a one-year contract, arriving from Qatar SC, for next season.”

Kimpembe’s switch comes shortly after the end of his brief spell with Qatar SC, which he joined in September 2025 following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain.

In a further note on his career in Qatar, Al Kharaitiyat added: “انضم كيمبيمبي الى نادي قطر الرياضي في سبتمبر 2025 قادما من نادي باريس سان جيرمان الفرنسي، ولعب مع الفريق في منافسات الدوري القطري الموسم الماضي” – “Kimpembe joined Qatar SC in September 2025 from French club Paris Saint-Germain and played with the team in the Qatari league competitions last season.”

World Cup winner in new chapter

Kimpembe had spent more than a decade at Paris Saint-Germain, breaking into the first team and remaining at the club from 2014 until 2025 before opting for his first move abroad.

During his time in Paris, the left-footed defender established himself as a regular in a side competing for domestic and European honours, which led to his inclusion in the France squad that lifted the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

He was part of Didier Deschamps’ group that went on to win the tournament, adding a world title at international level to a career largely built at PSG.

Kimpembe now begins a new chapter in the Qatari Second Division with Al Kharaitiyat, as the club look to strengthen their defence with a player who has top-level European and international experience.
