Karim Coulibaly: Centre-back linked with move to Frankfurt in Germany

Eintracht Frankfurt are reported to be monitoring Werder Bremen defender Karim Coulibaly, with the probability of a move currently rated at 20%.

Sources in Germany suggest the 18-year-old centre-back has emerged as a longer-term target for Frankfurt as they assess defensive options within the Bundesliga. Coulibaly, who is left-footed and stands at 1.91m, is valued at €8.00m, a figure that is expected to underpin any negotiations should Bremen decide to listen to offers.

Although no formal bid is recorded, the link comes at a time when Coulibaly’s stock has risen sharply. Transfer data shows his market value has climbed from €1.00m in August 2025 to €8.00m by mid-October, underlining how quickly he has established himself in Bremen’s senior set-up after stepping up from the club’s under-19 side.

Coulibaly, born in Oldenburg on 23 May 2007, holds both German and Ivorian nationality and has spent his entire career to date in German football. Before joining Werder Bremen’s youth ranks in 2024, he progressed through the Hamburger SV system, featuring for their youth, under-17 and under-19 teams after an earlier spell with HSV Barmbek-Uhlenhorst and a first youth stint at Bramfelder SV.

His current deal at Bremen is not listed with a specific expiry date, leaving room for speculation that his contractual situation could give Frankfurt an opening in upcoming transfer windows or, longer term, raise the prospect of a future free-agent move if no extension is agreed.

With both clubs competing in the Bundesliga and looking to build around younger players, Coulibaly’s development as a tall, left-footed centre-back makes him a potentially significant acquisition. Should the rumoured transfer eventually materialise, it could mark a pivotal step in shaping his career trajectory and reputation at the top level of German football.
