Kaizer Chiefs send defenders Xolani Cossa and Sifiso Timba to Gomora on loan

Kaizer Chiefs defender Xolani Cossa has joined Gomora on loan ahead of the 2026/27 season, with the move taking the young centre-back into the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Cossa, who operates on the left side of central defence, spent last season in the Botswana Premier League with Black Lions FC. Lions were interested in retaining him for a further campaign, but a decision was taken for the defender to continue his development in South Africa.

He has now completed a move to Gomora, with the new season scheduled to begin towards the end of August.

Gomora chairman Joe Seanego confirmed that Cossa had joined the club from Kaizer Chiefs.

“Yes, from Chiefs. He is on loan,” Seanego said when contacted by Soccer Laduma.

Cossa’s arrival is part of a wider agreement between the two clubs, with Sifiso Timba also returning to Gomora on loan for the coming season.

Timba spent the second half of last season with Gomora, and his performances during that spell led the club to express an interest in bringing him back for the new campaign. The midfielder will therefore remain with Gomora as the team prepares for the start of the Motsepe Foundation Championship season.

The loan moves give both Kaizer Chiefs players the opportunity to continue playing regularly away from their parent club. Cossa had been with Black Lions FC in Botswana last season, while Timba already has experience of Gomora after joining them midway through the previous campaign.

Kaizer Chiefs are also working on a temporary move for goalkeeper Bontle Molefe. The club are looking to send Molefe out on loan for the season so he can gain further experience elsewhere.

Molefe spent the second half of last season with Leicesterford City. He is expected to have another opportunity to leave Kaizer Chiefs on loan, and the current indications are that he will remain in the Championship.

The moves involving Cossa, Timba and Molefe come as clubs prepare for the 2026/27 campaign. Cossa and Timba will continue their development at Gomora, while Molefe’s next destination is yet to be confirmed, although he is also expected to play in the Championship.
