Kaizer Chiefs and TS Galaxy confirm line-ups for Carling Knockout clash

Kaizer Chiefs and TS Galaxy have announced their starting XIs for this evening’s Carling Knockout Cup last-16 tie at FNB Stadium.

Chiefs return to domestic cup action after suffering a penalty shootout defeat by Red Arrows in the CAF Confederation Cup in Durban on Friday.

The Glamour Boys have already been eliminated from two cup competitions this campaign, but the Carling Knockout presents another chance to challenge for silverware. The eventual winners will receive a prize of close to R7 million.

The hosts will also be looking to end a difficult run of form, having gone five matches without a win in all competitions. That sequence has increased the pressure on manager Fernando Da Cruz and his players.

TS Galaxy will hope to take advantage of Chiefs’ struggles as they seek to reach the quarter-finals. Esau Mtsweni’s side can also draw encouragement from their victory over Chiefs in the 2009 Nedbank Cup final.

Chiefs start with Petersen in goal, behind a defence of Frosler, Moloisane, Dortley and Mako.

Maboe and Mthethwa are named in midfield, with Vilakazi, Shabalala and Mmodi supporting Duba in attack.

TS Galaxy name Mathebula in goal, with Mhlongo, Mcwango, Mathebula and Mbunjana included in the defensive line.

Kokora, Zindoga and Rantoa are selected in midfield, while Mahlambi, Zandemela and Letsoalo form the attacking options.
