Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns target continued unbeaten runs in Betway Premiership

The latest Betway Premiership weekend is under way, with Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns among the teams looking to extend their unbeaten runs.

The opening fixture between Stellenbosch FC and Sekhukhune United was goalless at half-time at Athlone Stadium.

Stellenbosch had the greater share of possession during the opening stages, holding 56% of the ball after 20 minutes. However, the hosts had managed only one shot on target by that point.

Sekhukhune United goalkeeper Buthelezi endured an uncertain start, misjudging two crosses in the first 10 minutes, although Stellenbosch FC were unable to take advantage.

Sekhukhune’s Mojela was shown the first yellow card of the match in the 38th minute after elbowing Matlou in front of the referee.

At the interval, Stellenbosch FC had recorded two shots on target to Sekhukhune United’s one. The hosts had 55% possession, while Sekhukhune United had 45%.

Stellenbosch FC committed seven fouls and Sekhukhune United eight.

Stellenbosch FC’s starting XI was Stephens, Nkwali, Msimango, Vena, Lebitso, Mashego, Palace, Daniels, Matlou, Grobler and Kwayiba.

Sekhukhune United selected Buthelezi, Matsimbi, Ndlovu, Mkhize, Khupe, Rammala, Mojela, Gilabani O’Neil, Phiri, Mokoena and Muzeu.

Friday’s programme began with Stellenbosch FC hosting Sekhukhune United at 19h30.

There are three matches on Saturday. AmaZulu FC face Marumo Gallants at 15h00, while Polokwane City meet Kaizer Chiefs at the same time.

Chippa United then play Mamelodi Sundowns at 17h30.

Sunday’s action starts with Milford against Richards Bay and Siwelele against Golden Arrows, both at 15h00. TS Galaxy complete the weekend’s fixtures when they host Kruger United at 17h30.
