Ipswich Town set to bring in Strasbourg prospect Abdoul Ouattara

RC Strasbourg have reached an agreement with Ipswich Town for the transfer of 20-year-old Ivory Coast international Abdoul Ouattara, according to Foot Mercato.

Ouattara is now expected to move to England and join Ipswich Town, who were promoted to the Premier League. The transfer will represent the first time the Strasbourg academy graduate has played in a foreign league.

Ipswich Town have already agreed personal terms with the player and have subsequently reached an agreement with Strasbourg to complete the move. The fee has not yet been disclosed.

Ouattara gradually established himself in the Strasbourg first team last season, making 43 appearances in all competitions. He scored twice and provided two assists during the campaign.

The move offers the young Ivorian an opportunity to continue his development in a more competitive environment. Ipswich Town have been among the most active clubs in the summer transfer market and have already invested almost 170m euros, according to Foot Mercato.

Ouattara is under contract with Strasbourg until June 2029 and is valued at 15m euros. His potential departure would bring an end to his time at the club where he completed his development.

He could also be reunited with Julio Enciso at Ipswich Town. Enciso is another player reportedly close to leaving Strasbourg for the English club, meaning the pair may continue their careers together in England.

Ipswich Town’s recruitment activity comes as they prepare for life in the Premier League following promotion. The arrival of Ouattara would give the club another young option as they build their squad for the top flight.
