Barcelona’s rising star Lamine Yamal opened up about his childhood and the pivotal role his mother played in shaping his journey.
Speaking on DAZN’s Decoded, the young winger reflected on the sacrifices she made to shield him from hardship.
“I always tell my mother that I am grateful to her because, despite how difficult things were for her, she assured that I never saw anything wrong,” Yamal shared. “Maybe I didn’t have the best childhood in the world, but she took care that I only saw the beautiful side of things.”
Set to air this Thursday, the interview delves into Yamal’s early years and his approach to the game. Despite the pressures that come with playing at the highest level, the 16-year-old remains fearless.
“Luckily I am not afraid. I try to forget everything and play football, which is what I do best,” he said. “When I go to the field, thanks to my classmates who support me a lot, I try to make my game and that’s it. My mother sometimes gets nervous when I start my games, but supports me a lot.”
