Boulaye Dia scores twice in stoppage time as Rennes beat Auxerre 4-1

Boulaye Dia made an immediate impact for Rennes by scoring twice in stoppage time during their 4-1 Ligue 1 victory over Auxerre on Sunday 11 October.

The Senegal international came on in the 77th minute of the sixth-round fixture and needed only a short time to make his mark. He opened his account for Rennes in the 90th minute plus two, before adding a second goal two minutes later at 90+4.

Dia’s late double completed a convincing win for Rennes and gave the 29-year-old his first league goals since joining the club. His clinical finishing turned a brief substitute appearance into the decisive contribution of the closing stages.

The forward joined Rennes on loan from Lazio Rome during the summer transfer window. His display against Auxerre offered an early reminder of his ability to influence matches despite limited playing time and could help him earn greater trust from the Rennes coaching staff.

Valued at 5 million euros by Transfermarkt, Dia has now opened his scoring account in Rennes colours with a performance that provides an encouraging start to his Ligue 1 campaign. The former Lazio striker will hope to build on that contribution as his spell in Brittany continues.
