Haissem Hassan: Villarreal eye move for Real Oviedo and Egypt winger

Haissem Hassan, the Egypt and France-qualified winger currently at Real Oviedo, is being linked with a return to Villarreal in a potential move from Spains second tier back to LaLiga.

The 24-year-old right-sided attacker, who prefers to operate on the right flank cutting in from the left foot, only joined Oviedo from Villarreal last summer in a deal worth 1.5m. He is under contract at the Asturian club until 30 June 2027, meaning Villarreal would have to negotiate a fee to prise him away before the end of his current deal.

Hassans emergence with Egypt at the 2026 World Cup has helped renew interest in his situation. He has featured in the tournament with two appearances and one assist, contributing directly to a goal involvement and collecting two yellow cards.

At club level, Hassan has built up extensive experience in Spanish football. Across LaLiga2 he has made 139 appearances, producing eight goals and 14 assists, while he also has top-flight experience with 39 LaLiga games and three assists. His current market valuation is 3.5 million, having previously peaked at 5m.

Villarreal know the player well following his previous spell with the club and its B team, where he first arrived from French side Chateauroux in 2020. His successful loan at Sporting Gijon in 2023-24 further familiarised LaLiga observers with his profile before Oviedo moved to sign him permanently.

For now, Hassan remains an important attacking option for Oviedo, wearing the number 10 shirt and tied down for another year beyond this season, a position which could strengthen the Segunda Division clubs hand in any talks.
