Habib Beye has officially been named the new coach of Stade Rennais, taking over the reins on Thursday with his formal presentation taking place on Friday, January 31, 2025.
The Senegalese coach, eager to begin his tenure, expressed excitement about the challenge ahead.
With Stade Rennais facing a difficult situation, having been the first team relegated in the French Ligue 1 this season, the club has turned to Beye in hopes of securing their future in the top division.
The 47-year-old coach’s appointment signals a shift in direction, with the club placing its faith in his leadership to overcome adversity.
Beye is determined to transform the challenges ahead into an opportunity for success. “The difficulty that Stade Rennais is currently facing must be transformed into a challenge.
We have studied the team and Ligue 1 carefully, and we are ready to take on this challenge,” he said during his official introduction.
His eagerness to get started is palpable. “I am looking forward to meeting the team and getting to work very quickly,” Beye added, underlining his enthusiasm to start immediately.
Setting clear expectations, Beye laid out his vision for the team. “I like my team to impose the pace and maintain the intensity,” he explained, emphasizing the importance of controlling the flow of the game.
“A coach’s ambition must be to optimize a group that already has a lot of qualities,” Beye continued, offering a direct message to his players.
With fifteen crucial matches ahead, the coach has made it clear that his short-term goal is to ensure the team avoids relegation and remains in Ligue 1 for the next season.
Beye’s return to coaching comes after a spell with Red Star, which ended at the close of the previous season.
His appointment at Stade Rennais marks his return to top-flight football, where his leadership will be tested as he aims to guide the club through a turbulent period.
The Bretons, now under Beye’s guidance, hope his experience and ambition can propel them toward safety in the league.
