Chippa United beat rivals to Burkina Faso midfielder Ibrahim Bance
Chippa United have completed the signing of Burkina Faso midfielder Ibrahim Bance from Marumo Gallants, adding an experienced central midfielder to their squad ahead of the new campaign.
The 25-year-old has returned to South Africa to finalise his move to the Chilli Boys after reportedly attracting interest from several clubs. Chippa have now formally confirmed the transfer, with the midfielder choosing the Eastern Cape club as his next destination.
Bance chooses Chippa after attracting interest
Chippa United announced the signing on social media, hailing Bance as a highly rated midfielder and highlighting the qualities he is expected to bring to the team.
“A strong and composed presence in central midfield, he brings valuable experience from playing in South Africa, Cote d’Ivoire, Sweden and the United States.”
The club added: “We are confident that his physicality, work rate and ability to control the midfield will add strength and balance to our squad.”
Bance’s move comes after his previous spell with Marumo Gallants, where he gained further experience of South African football. His career has also taken him outside the country, with the midfielder having played in Cote d’Ivoire, Sweden and the United States.
Chilli Boys strengthen midfield options
Chippa believe Bance’s physical presence and composure can provide an additional dimension to their midfield. His ability to operate in central areas is expected to give the club greater competition and depth as they continue to shape their squad.
The Chilli Boys were not the only club interested in securing the midfielder’s services, but Bance ultimately opted to continue his career with Chippa.
His experience at international level is another major attraction. Bance has represented Burkina Faso at senior level, giving Chippa a player with exposure to top-level international football alongside his experience across different leagues.
The club did not disclose the financial terms or duration of the midfielder’s contract.
Bance now becomes the latest addition to Chippa United’s squad following his departure from Marumo Gallants, with the club hoping his physicality, work rate and ability to dictate play can improve their options in the middle of the pitch.
His arrival is expected to intensify competition for places in central midfield as Chippa prepare for the challenges of the upcoming season.
