The United Arab Emirates made the stronger start in their Gulf Cup 27 semi-final against Oman, taking the lead after 22 minutes at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah on Saturday.
Following a series of attacks at both ends, Mamadou Coulibaly received the ball on the left and delivered a cross towards Othman Kamara. The forward rose to head the ball into the net despite the presence of Oman’s defenders.
Kamara’s goal was the 46th scored by the United Arab Emirates against Oman in the history of meetings between the two national teams across all competitions.
The winner will face Saudi Arabia in the Gulf Cup 27 final. Saudi Arabia secured their place by beating Qatar 3-2 on penalties after their semi-final ended goalless following normal playing time.
The final of the Gulf Cup 27 is scheduled to take place on 6 October at Alinma Stadium at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
