Ghana winger Brandon Thomas-Asante on target as Coventry City see off Wrexham in 3-1 triumph
Ghanaian forward Brandon Thomas-Asante maintained his fine scoring form on Sunday afternoon, getting on the scoresheet as Coventry City recorded a convincing 3-1 victory over Wrexham A.F.C.
Starting in Coventry’s Matchday 45 clash at the Coventry Building Society Arena, Thomas-Asante played a key role as the hosts asserted themselves early in the contest. Although the match held little at stake for the home side, their approach was anything but relaxed, as they imposed themselves from the opening minutes and found the breakthrough in the 19th minute.
It was Ephron Mason-Clark who provided the spark, producing a superb piece of wing play before delivering a clever cross toward the far post. Thomas-Asante showed sharp awareness to time his run perfectly and stay onside, finishing with composure to hand Coventry the lead.
The visitors responded with renewed energy after conceding, pushing forward in search of a leveller. Their efforts were rewarded shortly after when Oliver Rathbone found the equaliser, ensuring the sides went into halftime on level terms.
Coventry, however, returned from the break with greater purpose and control, gradually taking charge of proceedings. With the contest finely poised heading into the closing stages, the hosts struck decisively.
Late goals from Victor Torp and Mason-Clark within the final ten minutes sealed the win and wrapped up all three points.
The goal adds further weight to Thomas-Asante’s growing case for a place in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The striker has been instrumental for Coventry this season, playing a significant role in their promotion push and continuing to deliver consistently in front of goal.
