Morgan Bokele nears transfer from Metz to Maccabi Tel Aviv
Morgan Bokele is close to leaving FC Metz, with the 22-year-old winger reportedly finalising a permanent transfer to Maccabi Tel Aviv.
The Israeli club currently leads its domestic championship and regularly competes in European football, making the move an important opportunity for the young attacker.
Bokele has been left out of Metz’s professional squad in recent days and no longer appears to be part of head coach Luc Holtz’s immediate plans. With transfer activity still possible in several countries, his departure has become increasingly likely.
The financial details of the proposed deal have not been disclosed. For Metz, however, the transfer would help reduce the size of the squad, even if the impact on the club’s wage bill is expected to be limited. Bokele had few immediate opportunities in France, accelerating the decision to seek a new challenge.
Maccabi Tel Aviv see the winger as a player capable of adding speed, direct running and energy in wide areas. He may initially begin as a substitute while adapting to a new league and environment.
A product of Metz’s academy, Bokélé showed promise with the youth teams and during the closing stages of the 2024-25 campaign. His next challenge will be turning that potential into greater consistency.
