Ghana defender Fayez Ahmed joins Montakhab El-Suez Petrojet

Ghanaian defender Fayez Ahmed has completed his move to Montakhab El-Suez Petrojet ahead of the new Egyptian Premier League season, joining from UAE club Dubai City.

Ahmed has signed his contract with Montakhab El-Suez Petrojet as the newly merged club continues to strengthen its squad before making its first appearance in the Egyptian Premier League.

The club will begin its league campaign against Asyut Petroleum. The fixture will mark Montakhab El-Suez Petrojet’s debut in the competition following the merger of the two clubs.

Ahmed’s arrival is part of an ongoing recruitment drive by Montakhab El-Suez Petrojet, who are preparing for the start of the new season. The Ghanaian defender joins from Dubai City, although no further details about the length of his contract were given.

The club had previously completed the signing of Palestinian player Abdulhadi Rashed, who has now become part of the squad.

Montakhab El-Suez Petrojet have also formally signed Abdelrahman from El Dakhleya. The move represents another addition to a team continuing to reshape its squad before the league gets under way.

The Egyptian Premier League is scheduled to start on 21 August, with the first phase due to finish on 20 February.

The second phase is set to begin on 8 March, while the league is expected to conclude on 28 May. That date remains subject to any changes to the May schedule because of the finals of continental competitions.

Taha Ezzat, chairman of the competitions committee, previously outlined the proposed timetable and indicated that the final arrangements could be affected by the dates of those continental finals.

Montakhab El-Suez Petrojet’s opening match against Asyut Petroleum will therefore be the first competitive test for the newly merged side in the Egyptian Premier League. The club is using the remaining period before the 21 August start date to complete its squad-building work, with Ahmed now among the latest players to join.

The Ghana defender’s signing also adds to the club’s international recruitment, following the arrival of Palestinian player Abdulhadi Rashed. Abdelrahman’s move from El Dakhleya further strengthens the squad as Montakhab El-Suez Petrojet prepares for a historic first campaign in the competition.

The club’s immediate focus will be on the opening phase of the season, which is due to run until 20 February. The later stage will follow from 8 March, with the full league programme scheduled to end on 28 May if no amendments are required to accommodate the finals of continental competitions.
