Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz promises fair chance for home-based players
New Ghana national football team head coach Carlos Queiroz has assured that locally based players will receive equal consideration for national team call-ups.
The experienced Portuguese tactician, recently appointed by the Ghana Football Association, committed during a press conference in Accra on Thursday as he officially began his tenure.
Queiroz revealed that a structured scouting system is already in place to evaluate Ghanaian players both at home and abroad, to ensure a balanced and merit-based selection process ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“We have one team behind the scenes that is working very hard to collect information about players, either local players or foreign players. There will be a fair opportunity for the local players,” Carlos Queiroz said.
He added, “One group will stay in Accra, and one group will work abroad, and at the end we will make a decision for the squad.”
The Black Stars coach emphasised that selection into the national team will be strictly based on key factors such as performance, fitness, experience, and player character.
With this approach, Queiroz aims to build a competitive squad that reflects both quality and fairness as Ghana prepares for the global showpiece.
