De Zerbi explains what Omar Marmoush must add at Tottenham Hotspur

Roberto De Zerbi says Omar Marmoush and Savinho must adapt to having greater responsibility at Tottenham Hotspur after playing limited roles at Manchester City.

The Tottenham Hotspur manager said the two players were not regular starters at Manchester City, but now have a bigger part to play in his side.

“Omar Marmoush and Savinho did not play many matches for Manchester City because they were not among the main players,” De Zerbi told Sky Sports.

“Here the situation is different. They have greater responsibility, and they must adapt and understand that the situation has changed. But both players are very good.”

De Zerbi also believes Marmoush can operate in a creative midfield role and wants Tottenham Hotspur to make full use of his versatility.

“Marmoush can play as a playmaker, and we have to get the maximum from him,” he added.

Marmoush and several other players joined the Tottenham Hotspur squad late because of the World Cup. De Zerbi said that had affected their preparations and fitness.

“Marmoush and a group of other players joined the team late because of the World Cup,” he said.

“I have worked with this group for two weeks, so we have not yet reached the right physical condition.”

Marmoush started Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League match against Everton, but was substituted in the 77th minute as the teams played out a goalless draw in the fourth round.

The result meant Tottenham Hotspur failed to score their first goal of the season for a fourth consecutive league match.

It was their second successive draw after opening the campaign with defeats by Brentford and Newcastle.

Tottenham Hotspur have two points from their first four matches and sit 17th in the table. Everton moved to six points and are seventh.
