Gavi will remain at Barcelona during the upcoming January transfer window, according to his representative Ivan de Pena, who says he has not negotiated with any other club.
The Spain midfielder’s future has come under scrutiny after a difficult period at Barcelona, with limited playing time fuelling reports that he is unhappy with his reduced role. Napoli have reportedly been prepared to offer the 22-year-old a route away from the Catalan club.
However, De Pena has dismissed those claims and insisted there has been no contact with potential suitors.
“I have not negotiated with anyone. Gavi will stay,” De Pena said, according to Tribuna.
Gavi has made only eight appearances for Barcelona this season, starting two of those matches. That limited involvement has come despite the midfielder returning to full fitness and overcoming his injury problems.
His situation could now change following Rodri’s injury. The setback has opened the possibility of Gavi regaining a more prominent position within the Barcelona side.
The midfielder is a product of the club’s La Masia academy and has been the subject of increasing speculation because of his lack of regular football. Recent reports had linked him with a possible move to Napoli ahead of the winter market, while also describing him as dissatisfied with the reduction in his responsibilities.
De Pena’s comments provide a clear statement that Gavi is expected to remain with Barcelona, despite the reports surrounding his future and the player’s restricted involvement so far this season.
The claims emerged on 8 November 2026, amid coverage of Barcelona’s squad situation in La Liga. Gavi’s potential return to a central role will depend on how Barcelona manage their midfield following Rodri’s injury, but his representative has stated that no transfer discussions have taken place.
