Galatasaray’s Wilfried Singo sets sights on Champions League stage before England move
Wilfried Singo intends to remain with Galatasaray during the summer transfer window, despite the possibility of interest from other clubs. The Ivory Coast defender has made it clear to the club’s hierarchy that he wants to continue his career with the Turkish champions, known as the Cimbom.
Singo’s immediate priority is to build on his role at Galatasaray and use the Champions League as a platform to increase his profile across Europe. According to Ali Naci Kucuk, the Ivory Coast international is hoping that strong performances in the competition will attract attention from some of the continent’s biggest clubs.
The 25-year-old ultimately has ambitions of taking the next major step in his career by joining a leading club in England. The Premier League is regarded as one of his preferred destinations for the next stage of his development, although his present focus remains firmly on Galatasaray and their ambitions in Turkey and Europe.
Singo joined Galatasaray on a contract that runs until June 2030 and is therefore expected to remain fully committed to the club’s project. His current estimated market value is €23m, although that figure could rise depending on how he performs on the European stage during the forthcoming campaign.
The defender earns €8m per year in Turkey, equivalent to 5.2bn CFA francs. That salary reflects his importance to Galatasaray, who will be looking to retain key players while preparing for another demanding season domestically and in the Champions League.
Singo’s next competitive appearance could come in Galatasaray’s second Turkish league match of the season, when they face Erzurumspor. Betting company 1xbet lists Galatasaray as favourites for the fixture, offering odds of 1.44 for a home win. A draw is priced at 4.25, while an Erzurumspor victory is listed at 5.90.
The match will provide Singo with an early opportunity to continue establishing himself in Galatasaray’s side. His performances will be closely watched not only by supporters in Turkey but also by clubs elsewhere in Europe, particularly those monitoring defenders capable of competing at the highest level.
For now, however, Singo is not seeking an immediate departure. His stated intention is to stay with Galatasaray, contribute during the new season and make the most of the opportunities provided by the Champions League. A future move to England remains part of his long-term plan rather than an objective for the current transfer window.
