Troyes submit bid for Mostafa Shobeir

Troyes have reportedly submitted a formal bid to sign goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir from Al Ahly SC in the current summer transfer window, as European interest in the Egyptian international gathers space.

The French club’s initial offer worth around €450,000 in an attempt to test Al Ahly’s resolve over the future of their first-choice goalkeeper.

Troyes are said to be looking to strengthen their squad with a young and promising shot-stopper, and Shobeir has emerged as one of their primary targets following his recent performances.

The Egyptian goalkeeper has attracted growing attention over the past months after delivering consistent displays for both club and country. His performances with Egypt, particularly during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, significantly boosted his profile on the international stage and placed him firmly on the radar of several European scouts.

Troyes’ interest is not isolated, as Shobeir has reportedly been followed by multiple European clubs in recent months. Scouts have been monitoring his development closely, impressed by his shot-stopping ability, composure under pressure, and maturity in high-stakes matches despite his relatively young age.

The French side’s bid comes amid increasing competition from clubs in Spain, where several teams are believed to have tracked the goalkeeper’s progress. Among them are Sevilla FC, Girona FC, Deportivo Alavés, and CA Osasuna, all of whom are reported to have monitored his performances, particularly following his standout showing in a friendly match between Egypt and Spain that ended goalless.

That performance is widely regarded as a turning point in his growing reputation abroad, as he impressed against elite-level opposition with a calm and assured display that highlighted his reflexes and decision-making ability.

Despite the mounting interest from Europe, Al Ahly are understood to be reluctant to part ways with the goalkeeper at this stage. The club considers him an important part of their long-term sporting project and views his development as a key asset for the future.

Internally, the technical staff have placed increasing trust in Shobeir, who has gradually established himself as a leading option between the posts. His emergence has added healthy competition within the goalkeeping department, particularly alongside experienced shot-stopper Mohamed El Shenawy.

However, his contractual situation adds another layer of complexity to the transfer saga. With his current deal set to run until the end of next season, Al Ahly face a crucial decision in the coming months—either secure an extension or consider potential offers to avoid losing him later under less favourable conditions.

For Troyes, the €450,000 bid represents an early attempt to gauge Al Ahly’s willingness to negotiate. Whether the Egyptian giants are prepared to entertain such an offer remains unclear, but the situation is expected to develop further as the transfer window progresses.

At this stage, no agreement has been reached, and discussions are still at an early stage. However, the growing list of interested clubs suggests that Shobeir’s future could become one of the key transfer stories involving African players in Europe this summer.
