Ghana international Caleb Ekuban joins Hellas Verona on deal until 2028

Ghanaian forward Caleb Ekuban has joined Hellas Verona, signing a contract that will keep him at the Serie A club until June 30, 2028.

The 32-year-old returns to Italy after five seasons with Genoa, where he made 128 appearances across Serie A, Serie B and the Coppa Italia, scoring 13 goals and providing 11 assists.

Born in Verona, Ekuban began his development with Mantova and Chievo Verona before starting his professional career at Südtirol.

He subsequently played for Lumezzane and Renate in Serie C before moving to Albania, where his breakthrough campaign came with Partizani Tirana in 2016/17.

Ekuban scored 17 goals in 34 appearances for Partizani, attracting the attention of Leeds United. He moved to England in 2017 and made 21 appearances, scoring twice.

The forward then continued his career in Turkey with Trabzonspor, where he established himself as an important attacking option. He registered 29 goals and 18 assists in 103 appearances for the club.

After three seasons in Turkey, Ekuban returned to Italy with Genoa in 2021, spending five campaigns with the Rossoblù.

At international level, the forward has represented Ghana 13 times and scored three goals for the Black Stars.

Ekuban can operate as a centre-forward or on the right wing, with his physical strength and versatility expected to add depth to Verona’s attack.

The move also marks a return to familiar surroundings for Ekuban, who was born in the Verona area and will now continue his career with the Gialloblù.
