FIFA President Gianni Infantino has officially unveiled the FIFA Fan ID programme for supporters attending the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States of America.

The initiative was announced ahead of what FIFA describes as the “biggest sporting event in history,” with the expanded tournament set to feature 48 nations and 104 matches across 16 stadiums.

In a statement promoting the new programme, FIFA said: “Unlock the experience of a lifetime: FIFA Fan ID launches for the FIFA World Cup.”

The world football governing body explained that the FIFA Fan ID will be free, customisable and designed to give supporters access to exclusive content and opportunities throughout the tournament.

“Free, customisable and packed with exclusive access to content and opportunities, the FIFA Fan ID is the must-have memento for every ticket holder at the biggest sporting event in history,” FIFA stated.

According to FIFA, physical Fan ID cards will be available for collection at all 16 World Cup venues during the competition.

“The physical FIFA Fan ID cards will be available for collection at each of the tournament’s 16 stadiums across all 104 matches,” the statement added.

Fans will also be able to interact digitally with the card using their smartphones. By tapping the Fan ID card, supporters can unlock personalised experiences, including the opportunity to customise official FIFA World Cup 2026 merchandise with personal content and curated tournament images.

Infantino urged fans fortunate enough to receive the Fan ID to wear it proudly and fully embrace the experience throughout the tournament.
