Fermin Lopez underlined his growing importance to Barcelona’s attack by contributing a goal and an assist in the side’s La Liga match against Deportivo Alaves.
The Barcelona academy graduate created the opener for Raphinha after breaking through the Alaves defence and picking out his team-mate with a decisive pass.
Lopez then doubled Barcelona’s advantage around 20 minutes later. He made another run into the penalty area before sending a powerful cross-shot from a tight angle past Alaves goalkeeper Sivera and into the net.
The performance further strengthened Lopez’s position in Hansi Flick’s team. He had already played an influential role before Dani Olmo’s injury and has continued to provide an attacking threat while operating as a playmaker.
Lopez has now scored six goals this season, including five in La Liga and one in the UEFA Champions League. He has also supplied five assists, with four of them coming in the domestic competition.
The 6 goals and 5 assists mean Lopez has either scored or created a goal in six matches during the current campaign, highlighting the impact he has made in Barcelona’s attacking set-up.
