Liverpool provides update on Mohamed Salah's injury

Mohamed Salah appears to have played his final game for Liverpool FC after a hamstring injury ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign, casting a shadow over what was already set to be an emotional farewell.

The Egyptian forward was forced off during Liverpool’s recent victory against Crystal Palace at Anfield, limping out just before the hour mark.

As he made his way off the pitch, Salah acknowledged the crowd, a moment that now carries added weight amid growing belief that his nine-year spell on Merseyside has ended abruptly.

Confirmation of the severity came from Egypt national team director Ibrahim Hassan, who revealed the extent of the setback. “He has suffered a hamstring tear and will require four weeks of treatment,” Hassan stated.

The timing is particularly cruel for both player and club. Salah had already indicated his intention to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, but hopes remained that he would feature in the final stretch of fixtures and receive a proper send-off on the pitch. Instead, he now faces a race simply to regain fitness, with little chance of adding to his remarkable record.

Liverpool’s run-in includes a high-profile trip to Manchester United, followed by fixtures against Chelsea FC, Aston Villa and Brentford FC.

The final game of the season, at Anfield, could now see Salah bid farewell from the sidelines rather than under the floodlights.

His legacy, however, is firmly secured. Across 440 appearances, Salah has delivered 257 goals, establishing himself as one of the most influential players in the club’s modern history.

With his departure looming, Liverpool have already begun exploring long-term replacements, with names such as Morgan Rogers and Yan Diomande emerging as potential successors as the club prepares for a new era.
