El Hadji Malick Diouf joins Brentford in £40m move from West Ham

El Hadji Malick Diouf has joined Brentford for a £40m transfer from West Ham, saying he is “ready to give everything” after completing his move to the Bees.

The 21-year-old left-back, who represented his country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, moves to Brentford after West Ham were relegated from England’s top flight last season.

Diouf said he was delighted to arrive at the club and looking forward to meeting Brentford’s supporters.

“I’m really happy, really happy to be here at this amazing club,” said the 21-year-old. “I was looking forward to it. Now I’m here and I’m ready to give everything.

“They have a really good connection with the players. I think that’s really important when you’re a player, to have a good connection with your fans.

“They can help you a lot and give you a lot of confidence as a player. I want that and I’m really excited to meet them.”

The Senegalese defender joined West Ham from Slavia Prague last year and established himself as a regular during his first season in English football.

He impressed in the full-back position before making the move across to Brentford, where manager Keith Andrews believes he fits the club’s preferred recruitment profile.

“He’s a player that fits our ideal age profile, with lots of room to still develop,” Brentford manager Keith Andrews told the club website.

“I think he had a really good year at West Ham in his first season in English football, and some of the qualities and attributes he has as a full-back really add to an already impressive part of our team.”

Andrews highlighted Diouf’s age and potential for further development, while also pointing to the contribution he made at West Ham during his first campaign in the English game.

The transfer gives Brentford a player with experience of Premier League football, as well as international experience gained at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Diouf’s arrival follows a season in which he became a regular for West Ham after moving from Slavia Prague.

His move to Brentford comes after West Ham’s relegation from the top flight, with the transfer fee reported as £40m.
