El Gouna sign Zambia midfielder David Simukonda from Ceramica Cleopatra

El Gouna have signed Zambia midfielder David Simukonda from Ceramica Cleopatra during the final days of the ongoing summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old defensive midfielder has moved after the player and both clubs signed a three-way agreement to complete the transfer, according to information obtained by FilGoal.com.

Simukonda joined Ceramica Cleopatra in January after leaving Zambian club Zesco United. However, his opportunities under manager Ali Maher were limited last season, with the midfielder making only one appearance and playing 12 minutes.

His arrival at El Gouna represents the seventh move from Ceramica Cleopatra to the club during the current campaign. He follows Ziad El-Shiat, Omar El-Gazzar, Islam Emad “Risha”, Mohamed Reda, Alaa Shaaban and Youssef Afifi in making the switch.

Simukonda becomes El Gouna’s 15th signing of the season as the club prepares for the new campaign under manager Ahmed Mostafa Bebo.

Before joining Ceramica Cleopatra, Simukonda featured for Zesco United in the previous edition of the CAF Confederation Cup. He played in seven matches in the competition and scored once.

Zesco United were drawn in Group D alongside Zamalek, Al Masry and Kaizer Chiefs. Simukonda’s appearances came during that group-stage campaign before his move to Egypt in January.

The midfielder’s transfer gives El Gouna another option in a defensive midfield role as they build their squad for the new season. His move was completed at the end of the summer transfer period, with the agreement involving Simukonda, Ceramica Cleopatra and El Gouna.

El Gouna finished last season fourth in the relegation-avoidance stage of the league, collecting 46 points. They will begin the new campaign against Modern Sport on Sunday, 23 August.

The club’s recruitment has been extensive, with Simukonda the 15th player brought in during the current season. His signing also continues the notable flow of players between Ceramica Cleopatra and El Gouna, with seven of the club’s additions arriving from Ceramica Cleopatra.
