Egyptian referee Amin Omar to lead all-Middle Eastern team for Al Ahli v Auckland City in Intercontinental Cup tie

Egyptian referee Amin Omar has been appointed by FIFA to take charge of the Intercontinental Cup match between Al Ahli Saudi and Auckland City, heading an entirely Egyptian officiating team for the fixture in Jeddah.

The game is scheduled to be played at Al Inma Stadium in Jeddah on 26 August, with Al Ahli representing Saudi Arabia against New Zealand side Auckland City in the international competition.

FIFA confirmed that Omar will be the referee, with fellow Egyptians Mahmoud Abou Elregal and Ahmed Hossam Taha selected as his assistant referees on the touchlines.

Mahmoud Nagy has been named as fourth official, while the video assistant referee (VAR) duties will be handled by Mahmoud Ashour, supported by AVAR official Tarek Magdy.
