Egyptian FA suspends eight officials after incidents at headquarters
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has suspended eight coaches and administrators and referred them to its Disciplinary Committee following incidents at the association’s headquarters on 17 August 2026.
The decision was taken by the EFA Board of Directors at a meeting held on Tuesday, where members considered a memorandum prepared by the association’s legal department concerning the events involving a number of coaches and administrators.
The board approved the legal department’s memorandum and ordered the immediate suspension of the individuals involved pending consideration of their cases by the Disciplinary Committee.
The eight officials suspended are:
- Hussein Mahmoud Sweilem Salem – Technical Director
- Ali Al-Sayed Ali – Assistant Coach
- Mohamed Osama Ahmed Zidan – General Manager of the Football Sector
- Ali Mohsen Ali Hussein – Goalkeeping Coach
- Mohamed Hassan Ezzat Rashid – Load Planner
- Wael Mohamed Mohamed Abdel Jawad – Administrative Director
- Hafez Masri Hafez Abdel Sayed – Players’ Affairs Administrator
- Mahmoud Oweis Eid Moatamed – Coach
The EFA said the suspensions and referrals were made in accordance with the relevant regulations and followed the legal department’s review of the incidents.
The association did not provide further details about the nature of the incidents at its headquarters or specify the alleged conduct that led to the disciplinary action.
The Disciplinary Committee will now be responsible for examining the cases and determining any further sanctions in accordance with its jurisdiction and the applicable regulations.
At the same meeting, the EFA Board also addressed a separate grievance submitted by Orange Sport for Sports Services and Investment.
The board decided to refer the grievance to the Appeals Committee, asking the committee to take whatever action it considers appropriate within its jurisdiction and in line with the relevant regulations.
The two decisions underline the EFA’s continued use of its internal legal and disciplinary structures to deal with disputes and incidents involving football officials and administrators.
Further action against the eight suspended individuals is expected after the Disciplinary Committee reviews their cases.
