The Egyptian Basketball Federation, chaired by Amr Moselhy, has approved the introduction of the Egypt Cup for junior boys and girls.
The decision follows a proposal submitted by Mohamed Ehab Mohsen, a member of the federation’s board.
The new competition is intended to increase the number of fixtures available to players across the different age groups, while helping to improve their technical standards. It will also give young players further opportunities to gain competitive experience and develop their abilities.
The Egyptian Basketball Federation said the tournament would support the development of both boys’ and girls’ basketball by providing a wider range of meaningful competition at youth level.
It also aims to broaden the search for promising talent across the various age categories. The federation hopes this will help prepare a new generation of players capable of representing Egypt’s national teams in the future.
Officials said the Egypt Cup for junior boys and girls represented a further addition to the federation’s programme of age-group competitions.
The tournament forms part of the federation’s longer-term plan to provide players with as much competition and experience as possible. That approach is intended to help raise the overall standard of Egyptian basketball and support the continued development of the national teams.
