Egypt name Abdelrahman Hamid, Mohsen Ramadan and Bejad Marwan in Mediterranean Games handball squad

Egypt have included Abdelrahman Hamid, Mohsen Ramadan and Bejad Marwan in the squad for the Mediterranean Games handball tournament in Taranto, Italy.

The Egyptian Handball Federation announced the 16-player selection on Wednesday, with the competition scheduled to take place from 22 August to 1 September.

Spain’s Fernando Barbeito will lead the national team during the tournament. Egypt have been drawn in a group alongside hosts Italy, Portugal and Kosovo.

Hamid, Ramadan and Marwan are among the more prominent names in the squad, which includes players across the goalkeeper, wing, back and pivot positions.

Egypt squad

The three goalkeepers selected are Abdelrahman Hamid, Mostafa Ahmed Adel and Youssef Nagy.

Egypt’s left-wing options are Bilal Ibrahim and Mohamed Moamen Safa, while Nabil Sherif is the only player listed as a left back.

The playmaking positions will be covered by Seif Hany, Ziad Mohannad and Mohamed Salah El-Sayed.

Mohsen Ramadan is the squad’s right back, with Mohamed Emad Shaaban, Omar Khaled Hussein and Omar Haimen Youssef named as right-wing players.

At pivot, Egypt have chosen Ahmed Tagyan, Bejad Marwan and Yasser Seif.

The tournament will be staged in Taranto, where Egypt will begin its campaign against opponents from Italy, Portugal and Kosovo. The event runs for 11 days, beginning on 22 August and concluding on 1 September.

Barbeito has been appointed to oversee Egypt’s participation, with the squad now confirmed ahead of the country’s Mediterranean Games campaign.
