After a remarkable qualifying campaign, Egypt’s national team has officially secured a spot at the 2026 World Cup, set to be held across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Led by head coach Hossam Hassan, the Pharaohs boast a proud World Cup history, starting in 1934 as the first African team to compete in the tournament.

Egypt returns to the global stage after missing out on the 2022 edition in Qatar. Fans are optimistic, hoping to see the team advance to the second round for the first time ever. According to FIFA’s September rankings, Egypt sits at 35th in the world, but recent wins in qualifiers could see them ranked as high as 28th, potentially placing them in the third seed for the group draw.

The draw, taking place on December 5, will see Egypt potentially grouped with global heavyweights such as Brazil, Spain, England, France, or Argentina. The path won’t be easy; in past appearances, the team has struggled, never advancing beyond the group stage. Still, the expansion to 48 teams and new rules might offer Egypt its best chance yet to make history. This time, the Pharaohs’ dream feels closer than ever.
