Dynamo Kyiv open talks for Ivorian defender Cheick Mamadou Diabaté
Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv have opened discussions with Austrian club Wolfsberger AC over a potential move for Ivorian centre-back Cheick Mamadou Diabaté, as interest grows around the 22-year-old defender in the summer transfer window.
According to Africafoot, negotiations are currently underway between both clubs as Dynamo Kyiv look to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the new season.
Diabaté is coming off a positive campaign in Austria, where he established himself as a regular starter and made 20 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga.
His performances have reportedly impressed Dynamo Kyiv’s recruitment department, who have already given internal approval for a potential move.
The Ukrainian club, who are competing for top positions in their domestic league, are seeking to reinforce their squad with young and promising talent as part of their long-term planning.
The Ivorian defender is currently valued at around €800,000, but Wolfsberger AC are understood to be holding out for a fee closer to €2 million in order to sanction his departure.
Despite the gap in valuation, reports suggest Dynamo Kyiv are prepared to consider the asking price as they look to advance negotiations and secure a deal.
Diabaté remains under contract with the Austrian side until 2027, meaning Wolfsberger AC are in a strong position in discussions over his future.
However, his recent rise in form and increasing attention from clubs across Europe have placed him firmly on the transfer radar ahead of the upcoming window.
For Dynamo Kyiv, the potential signing is seen as part of a wider strategy to invest in emerging talent capable of contributing immediately while also developing for the future.
Talks between the two clubs are expected to continue in the coming weeks as both sides assess whether an agreement can be reached for the young defender’s transfer.
