President of the Djiboutian Football Federation, Waberi Souleiman Hassan, has been elected to serve on the seat of the FIFA Council as a representative of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
He will serve for a term that will run from 2025 to 2029.
Waberi, who is also Vice-President of CAF secured his spot on the FIFA Council seat during the CAF General Assembly held on Wednesday, March 12.
Reacting to his election, Waberi Souleiman Hassan expressed his delight, stressing that his feat is proof that the size of a country does not define greatness.
He expressed his appreciation to his country, Djibouti and all of Africa for the trust placed in him to serve on the FIFA Council on behalf of CAF.
“After the African Union. Today, Djibouti, a small nation, but today makes its voice heard at the highest level of world football. My election to the FIFA Committee is proof that the size of a country does not define its greatness, but its determination, commitment and passion.
“Thank you for your trust. The work begins now,” the Djiboutian football strategist said in a post on X.
