Dembele joins elite French Champions League final scorers
Ousmane Dembele continues to etch his name into PSG history, becoming the 10th French player ever to score in a Champions League final.
His equalising strike in the 2026 final against Arsenal placed him alongside footballing legends like Zinedine Zidane, Karim Benzema, and Michel Platini.
Before Dembélé’s achievement, PSG teammates Desire Doue and Senny Mayulu both found the net during their 5-0 demolition of Inter Milan in the 2025 final. This French scoring legacy stretches back to 1956, when Reims players Leblond, Templin, and Hidalgo scored in the inaugural European Cup final.
With Dembele’s goal, PSG matched Barcelona’s exceptional record of 45 goals in a single Champions League campaign, set during the 1999-2000 season. While the tournament format has changed since then, the statistic highlights PSG’s attacking dominance and explosive offensive power this season.
The 29-year-old winger’s moment of brilliance in Budapest secured PSG’s historic title defense, making them the first club since 2018 to retain Europe’s biggest prize. Dembele’s composure under pressure has now cemented his status as a Champions League hero for Paris Saint-Germain.
