Debrecen recruit Guinea and Sierra Leone midfielder Jocelyn Janneh from SC Bastia

Jocelyn Janneh, the Guinea and Sierra Leone defensive midfielder, has joined Hungarian club Debrecen from French side SC Bastia.

The 23-year-old Freetown-born player switches to Debrecen in the NB I after beginning the 2026-27 campaign with Bastia in Ligue 3. Janneh made two appearances for the French club this season, playing 83 minutes in total, before completing his move to Hungary on 1 September.

Janneh operates primarily in defensive midfield and is right-footed. Standing at 1.84m, he adds a central midfield option to Debrecen’s squad as the club welcomes a player with experience in both French and Turkish football.

He joined Bastia from Kayserispor in July 2022 on a free transfer. Before that move, Janneh had been with Moroccan club MC Marrakech, joining Kayserispor in January 2022.

Janneh’s time at Bastia included a limited start to the current Ligue 3 campaign. He featured in half of the club’s first four possible league matches, starting one of those games and completing 23% of the available minutes. He did not score or register an assist during those appearances.

The midfielder’s market value is listed at €800,000, while his highest recorded valuation has been €1.5m. Those figures provide context to a transfer involving a player who has already built a professional career across several countries despite being 23.

Janneh was born in Freetown and is listed with both Guinea and Sierra Leone as his nationalities. His move to Debrecen represents a change of country and league, taking him from France’s third tier to Hungary’s top division.

The transfer also continues a career path that began with MC Marrakech before taking Janneh to Turkey, France and now Hungary. His move to Debrecen was completed on 1 September 2026, with the midfielder leaving SC Bastia for the Hungarian club.

Janneh has therefore become a Debrecen player after completing his switch from SC Bastia.
