Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr emerges as key Fenerbahce target if Rafael Leao move stalls

Fenerbahce are closely monitoring Crystal Palace forward Ismaila Sarr as a leading alternative should their efforts to sign Rafael Leao fail, according to reports in Turkey.

The Istanbul club are understood to be exploring several attacking options before the transfer window closes and view Sarr’s profile as a strong fit for their plans. Journalist Nabil Djellit reports that the Senegal international is highly rated by the Fenerbahce hierarchy.

Sarr, 28, is regarded as one of Crystal Palace’s most important attacking assets, and any move to prise him away from Selhurst Park would be complicated by both his contract situation and his market valuation.

Leao talks shape Fenerbahce’s approach

Fenerbahce’s primary objective in attack remains Rafael Leao, but the club are preparing alternative scenarios in case negotiations for the Portuguese forward do not progress.

If they are unable to secure Leao, Fenerbahce are expected to step up their interest in Sarr, while Marcus Rashford is also being assessed as another possible option to strengthen their forward line.

Both Sarr and Rashford are on a list of candidates being studied by the Turkish side as they look to add pace and end product in wide areas.

Sarr a key figure at Crystal Palace

Sarr’s speed, direct dribbling and experience at the highest level make him an attractive proposition for an ambitious club like Fenerbahce.

The winger, a full Senegal international, is seen at Palace as a major weapon in transition and one of the team’s primary offensive threats.

However, Sarr is under contract with the Eagles until 30 June 2029, giving Crystal Palace significant leverage in any potential negotiations.

High valuation a hurdle for Fenerbahce

Any bid from Fenerbahce would likely need to be substantial. Sarr’s current market value is estimated at €45m by Transfermarkt, a figure that could prove a stumbling block in talks between the two clubs.

On top of that, the player’s wages are considerable. Sarr earns an annual salary of €4,348,684, which equates to 2,826,644,600 FCFA, underlining the financial commitment required to complete a deal.

With the transfer window edging towards its conclusion, Fenerbahce must now decide whether to focus their resources on pushing through a move for Leao or switch their attention more decisively towards Sarr and Rashford as they attempt to reinforce their attack.
