Couhaib Driouech gives green light to Celta Vigo move from PSV Eindhoven

Couhaib Driouech has agreed personal terms with Celta Vigo after PSV Eindhoven reached an agreement with the Spanish club over the transfer of the 24-year-old Morocco international. The winger is expected to undergo a medical on Tuesday, 25 August, with a long-term contract reportedly ready for him in Spain.

According to Voetbal International, Driouech is set to sign a four-year deal running until the middle of 2030. The agreement between PSV Eindhoven and Celta Vigo was followed by an understanding between the player’s representatives and the La Liga club.

Driouech has given his approval to the move, meaning the transfer appears to be close to completion. The medical is the next significant step before the deal can be formally finalised, although a number of administrative details still need to be resolved.

The Morocco international had been expected to leave PSV Eindhoven for some time. His departure initially appeared likely to take him to Scotland, where Rangers had been working on a deal. However, that transfer collapsed after Driouech had already travelled to Scotland.

The failure of that move was linked to concerns raised during the medical examination arranged by Rangers. The club feared the player could be unavailable for several weeks, but those concerns proved unfounded. Celta Vigo have now moved to take advantage of the situation and are close to securing the winger’s signature.

Driouech has made 61 appearances for the PSV Eindhoven first team, scoring 12 goals and providing 10 assists. His latest involvement with the club has been affected by the developing transfer, and he was not included in the squad for PSV Eindhoven’s match against FC Groningen.

PSV Eindhoven won that game convincingly, beating FC Groningen 5-1. The decision not to select Driouech came as negotiations with Celta Vigo advanced and the clubs moved closer to reaching an agreement over his transfer.

The proposed move would bring an end to Driouech’s time at PSV Eindhoven and provide him with the opportunity to continue his career in Spain. At this stage, the player has agreed to the switch, the clubs have reached a deal and the medical has been scheduled, leaving only the final formalities before the transfer becomes official.
