Christophe Dugarry criticises Kylian Mbappe’s Ballon d’Or ambition as ‘childish’

Christophe Dugarry has sharply criticised France captain and Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe after he spoke publicly about his ambition to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or.

“Instead of talking about yourself and individual awards, you should talk about the team, sharing success and the trophies that you did not win but wanted to win together,” he said.

Mbappe’s comments had centred on the criteria used to assess the Ballon d’Or. While acknowledging the importance of team achievements, he pointed to the award’s individual status and maintained that a player’s personal performances should be a central part of the judgement.
