Chelsea FC are preparing to make a decisive call on Liam Rosenior’s future ahead of their crucial weekend meeting with Manchester United, with senior figures opting to stand by the under-fire head coach despite a difficult run of results.

Rosenior’s tenure at Stamford Bridge has spanned just three months, a period marked by inconsistency and frustration as the club continues to fall short of expectations.

Yet, according to reports, the Chelsea hierarchy has resolved to maintain faith in the former defender, even if the club ultimately fails to secure qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

The decision comes at a delicate point in Chelsea’s campaign. They remain four points adrift of fifth-placed Liverpool FC, keeping their European ambitions alive, while still harbouring hopes of lifting the FA Cup for the first time since 2018.

However, their position is far from secure, with Everton FC and Brentford FC just one point behind, and both Brighton & Hove Albion and Sunderland AFC closing in.

Sunday’s heavy 3-0 defeat to Manchester City only intensified scrutiny on Rosenior, extending a worrying run that has seen Chelsea lose five of their last six matches across all competitions.

The result reinforced concerns about a side that, despite significant investment, continues to drift in mid-table.

Still, Rosenior has remained publicly composed amid the growing pressure. Reflecting on the latest setback, he expressed a desire for continuity as he attempts to reshape the squad in his vision, stating that he hopes to be given time to build something “very special” at the club.
