Champions League betting tips: Guirassy, City and Inter among the selections for 20-21 October
Three Champions League betting selections identified by Cameroonian sports journalist and betting expert Arthur Wandji include Serhou Guirassy to score for Borussia Dortmund, a 2-0 lead for Manchester City and a 2-0 victory for Inter Milan.
Sabah v Borussia Dortmund
Betting option: Serhou Guirassy to score (odds: 1.60)
Borussia Dortmund travel to Baku to face Sabah on Tuesday in the third round of the Champions League, with Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy expected to lead their attack.
Guirassy has scored four goals this season across the two competitions, with two in the Bundesliga and two in the Champions League. Dortmund have gone three matches without a win, but they have lost only once away from home this season.
Sabah have scored 14 goals across their five European home victories, which highlights the potential threat they pose. However, Dortmund’s defensive record away from home in the Champions League means caution is required. Guirassy’s consistency in front of goal makes backing him to score the preferred option.
Manchester City v AEK Athens
Betting option: 2-0 at some point during the match (odds: 1.40)
Manchester City welcome AEK Athens after a 3-2 league victory over Ipswich, their seventh consecutive Premier League win since the start of the season.
City have won 12 of their past 15 European home matches against sides from leagues outside the top five, without suffering a defeat in that sequence. AEK, by contrast, were beaten 3-1 by Shakhtar and have failed to win any of their last 19 away matches in the Champions League, drawing six and losing 13.
Those contrasting records point towards a controlled Manchester City victory, with the hosts expected to establish a 2-0 advantage during the game.
Inter Milan v Shakhtar Donetsk
Betting option: Inter Milan to win 2-0 (odds: 8.00)
Inter must respond after losing both of their opening two Champions League matches, despite scoring four goals. The Nerazzurri have now lost their last four games in the competition.
Their home form since December is considerably stronger, with 16 victories, three draws and four defeats. Shakhtar have taken four points from their first two matches and won 10 of their 12 competitive games this season, but they have gone seven consecutive Champions League away matches without a victory.
Inter will be without Lautaro Martinez, Curtis Jones and Benjamin Pavard, which weakens their squad. Even so, the need to secure a first win supports a 2-0 home success.
Real Madrid v RB Leipzig
Betting option: more than 10.5 corners (odds: 1.61)
Real Madrid host Leipzig on the back of three consecutive wins, including a 4-1 victory against Sevilla. Their first two Champions League matches have already produced seven goals in total.
Madrid have scored in each of their last 44 home games in the competition. Arda Guler provided two assists against Roma before scoring against Sevilla, adding another attacking threat.
Leipzig have lost their last four away matches, conceding 15 goals. Four of their past five games have featured more than 13 corners, suggesting a match with repeated attacking phases and a strong possibility of at least 11 corners.
Odds may change.
