The qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations, Morocco 2015, commenced with a match between Mauritania and Mauritius in Nouakchott. However, the other scheduled match between Eritrea and South Sudan did not take place due to Eritrea’s withdrawal. Consequently, South Sudan automatically advances to the next round.
In total, 51 countries are competing for 15 qualifying places to join Morocco for the tournament.
The second round of qualifiers is set to begin in May, with the top 21 selections in the CAF rankings exempted from this round. These exempted teams will only enter the competition during the group phase, starting from September.
This marks the beginning of an exciting journey for African national teams as they strive to secure a place in the prestigious African Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco.
