Sarpsborg 08 have completed the signing of 21-year-old right winger Camil Mmaee from Dutch side MVV Maastricht, securing the Morocco- and Belgium-qualified attacker on a permanent deal. The transfer became official on 2026-02-01, with the player’s contract at the Norwegian Eliteserien club running until 2026-02-01.
The move takes Mmaee out of the Keuken Kampioen Divisie and into Norway’s top flight, where he will immediately join Sarpsborg 08’s attacking options on the flank. While the transfer fee has not been disclosed and is listed as unknown, the deal brings in a player currently valued at €450k, reflecting a rapid rise in his market value over the past few seasons.
Mmaee arrives in Sarpsborg as a left-footed right winger, a profile that offers natural width and the potential to cut inside from the flank. Standing at 1.84m and still only 21, he fits the model of a developing talent with resale potential. His switch to Sarpsborg 08 also continues a career spent entirely abroad at club level, away from his countries of nationality, Morocco and Belgium.
The winger’s journey to Norway has followed a steady upward path. After progressing through the youth ranks at Standard Liège, moving from Standard Liège U17 to Standard de Liège 16 FC, he left Belgium for Italy with Bologna Primavera. From there he joined MVV Maastricht in the Netherlands, where consistent game time in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie saw his market value rise significantly, climbing from €25k at Standard’s youth sides to €100k at Bologna Primavera, and then up to €450k during his spell with MVV.
That surge in valuation reflects his development, particularly during his time in Maastricht, where successive updates in 2024 and 2025 showed sharp increases as he established himself in senior football. His progress convinced Sarpsborg 08 to move for him as they looked to add pace, creativity and depth on the wings ahead of their Eliteserien campaign.
Mmaee’s international profile is also notable. Born in Anderlecht and holding both Moroccan and Belgian nationality, he embodies the modern dual-national attacking prospect. His move to Norway extends his experience across multiple European leagues, having already played in Belgium’s youth system, Italy’s Primavera competition and the Netherlands’ second tier before this step into the Eliteserien.
The transfer also has implications for his contract status. With a fixed end date of 2026-02-01 at Sarpsborg 08, the winger is now tied to the Norwegian club for the medium term, but that timeline also means he could become a free agent at the conclusion of his deal if no extension is agreed. Given his age and market value trajectory, his spell in Norway may prove decisive in determining whether he earns a longer stay in Scandinavia or attracts further interest from elsewhere in Europe.
For now, the move to Sarpsborg 08 marks a new stage in Camil Mmaee’s career: a confirmed transfer to a top-flight league, another experience abroad away from Morocco and Belgium, and an opportunity to convert his growing market value into consistent top-division performances before his contract runs its course on 2026-02-01.
